Essential Job Tasks:

Interprets simultaneously and consecutively from English to Spanish and Spanish to English during court interviews, hearings and court proceedings; makes oral translations during interviews, hearings and court proceedings of documents such as court petitions, reports, notices and agreements.  Translate documents.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Spanish, translation, interpretation, and/or conference interpretation of the Spanish language, and two (2) years of paid, professional court interpreting experience.  Other combinations of education and experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis.  Court interpreter certification by a State Consortium, national society, or Federal government agency can substitute for the two years of experience.

Pursuant to the Judicial Merit System Resolution & Rules, the Maricopa County Human Resources Department performs recruitment, assessment and other personnel functions on behalf of the Court System and its departments.  The Maricopa County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the exam process only those candidates considered to be the most highly qualified.  Those selected will be scored based on evaluation of listed education and experience.  The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a pool provided by Human Resources.
