Shelter manager sought to oversee operations of a 24-hour domestic violence/sexual abuse shelter. This position plans, organizes, directs and coordinates various shelter programs in addition to providing task supervision to shelter staff.
· Requires on-site residency and attendance at the shelter during assigned hours. Provides support and a safe and clean environment for shelter residents. Monitors shelter environment by maintaining order and facilitating basic needs and activities for shelter residents on a daily basis.
· Attends weekly staff meetings and meets daily with Case Manager to review current residents' files and case plans. Also meets weekly with the Program Coordinator and Case Manager for quality review of case plans. Maintains accurate records, keeps appropriate notes and files.
· Receives incoming clients, conducts intake interviews and explains house rules and expectations. Provides answers to questions and inquires and maintains a high level of guest relations and hospitality with visitors in person and through phone contact.
· Performs housekeeping duties in areas not assigned or expected of guests to maintain and assigns daily chores to women staying in the shelter and facilitates follow through. Counsels women in crisis situations and facilitates groups as necessary. Plans and coordinates activities for women and children staying at the shelter.
· Assists with updating policy and procedures and schedules personnel for 24-hour staffing needs of shelter. Provides task supervision for regularly assigned evening and weekend staff as designated. Identifies repairs for equipment and internal and external structural needs.
· Prepares statistical summaries and other reports as required and works with the Program Coordinator and staff to develop annual budget plans.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
